Trust sets up scheme to help wildlife

LOVING partners can treat couples of the furrier kind to a Valentine’s gift by adopting one of six animals as a gift for their loved one.

Couples enjoying Valentine’s Day can help wildlife while celebrating their relationship through Worcestershire Wildlife Trust’s Adopt-a-species scheme.

People can “virtually” adopt one of six animals, including dormouse, stag beetle, water vole, brown hare, otter and barn owl that the trust is helping to protect.

Becky Bradshaw-King, fund-raising assistant for the trust, explained: “The animals have all been chosen because of declining numbers or because their habitats need protecting.”

She added: “Monies raised from people adopting an otter, dormouse or barn owl will help us to continue this work. It’s also a great gift for animal and nature lovers.”
