New pool at Arley Arboretum

KEEN gardeners and nature lovers can enjoy a new wildlife pool at Arley Arboretum and Gardens.
The 25 metres by 17 metres wide pool was designed and built to create a new home for some of the flora and fauna and is expected to be completed by early summer.
Michael Darvill, head gardener, said: ‘We’ve designed the pool to be wide but with shallow, sloping edges to allow wildlife to get in and out of the water easily. It sounds strange but amphibians can drown if they can’t get out of the water when necessary.”
The fringes of the new pool have been planted with water-loving plants including rushes, grasses and primula.
