Woman in court over fatal Stourton crash

A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with causing a crash in Stourton which killed a popular teacher.

Francine Austin, aged 53, of Heathton House, Claverley, appeared at Cannock Magistrates Court today (Wednesday February 22) accused of causing the death of Brenda Wilson, aged 62 from Kinver, by driving without due care and attention while over the legal alcohol limit.

The charge relates to an incident on the A458 Bridgnorth Road in August last year when Mrs Wilson, who had been walking a dog along the footpath with a friend, suffered fatal head injuries after being hit by an Audi A3, allegedly driven by the defendant.

Magistrates sent the case to Stafford Crown Court for a hearing on Friday March 2, Mrs Austin was remanded on unconditional bail.
