Semi-finals for ladies
11:00am Thursday 29th July 2010
FOOTBALL: Kidderminster Harriers Ladies reached the semi-finals of the Launton five-a-side tournament in Oxfordshire.
Harriers won four of their six group games, seeing off Appleton, Banbury, Hemel and Launton B and losing to Swindon and Didcot.
After finishing second in their group, they edged Milton Keynes 1-0 thanks to Mel Morton’s goal.
However, for the second year in a row, they were narrowly beaten 1-0 in extra-time by Havant and Waterlooville.
The semi-final was an even affair, with Harriers hitting the post early on and Havant playing some good football, but failing to create a clear scoring opportunity.
With only 30 seconds to go, the tournament’s eventual champions dealt the killer blow, when they scored the winning goal with a well-struck shot from the edge of the area.
