A SUDDEN-DEATH play-off victory helped Kidderminster edge past Redditch in the second round of the Kidderminster Cup.
The scores were tied at 1-1 after two completed games of the Scratch Foursomes competition, with Phil Disspain and Mike Nicholson winning one-up while Alan Stanyer and Mike Newbold losing 5 and 4.
Will Painter and Brian Cooper were level after 18 holes but took victory on the second hole of the play-off to ensure Kidderminster’s progression.
Things were much less dramatic in the first round of the Mail on Sunday Classic, as Little Lakes were swept aside 4½-½.
Callum Hutchinson, Disspain, Brian Longmore and Dave Wiggins all won, with Andy Longmore halving his game.

n Joe Harper continued his fine form with victory in the men’s January Stableford at Cleobury Mortimer — despite a near disastrous finish.
Harper ended with a triple bogeyand a double bogey to card 38 points and finish just in front of Simon Johnson.
Tom Wright, who finished in third place, had the lowest gross score of the day with a 70 as only three players finished under par.
