KCs set for table-toppers test
12:00pm Friday 17th February 2012
KIDDERMINSTER Carolians face their toughest test of season on Saturday when they entertain Midlands Two West (South) leaders Barkers Butts (2.15pm kick-off).
Both teams will be eager to pick up points for contrasting reasons.
KCs, who have not played for a fortnight because of the recent cold snap, haven’t won since seeing off Pershore in December and have lost their last three games.
The run means the Marlpool Lane side are still not safe from relegation.
Their opponents from Warwickshire have won four of the last five matches.
KCs saw Saturday’s game at Upton-upon-Severn postponed because of a frozen pitch for the second week in a row.
Away from the field, Saturday’s clash will be the annual presidents and players reunion day, which gives a chance to former players to meet up again.
Cleobury Mortimer return to action at Stourbridge Lions in Midlands Three West (North).
Mortimer are still smarting from their heavy 68-3 defeat at Harborne two weekends ago.
Fourth-placed Stourport take a trip to leaders Bromyard in Division Five West (North).
They will be aiming to build on wins over Essington and Birmingham Barbarians in recent weeks.
Meanwhile, North Midlands clubs are being asked to send in their nominations for the Volunteer of the Year Awards.
The North Midlands Community Rugby Committee want to recognise the efforts of individuals who contribute freely to their clubs.
Clubs can send up to six nominations for deserving servants, who have donated their time and expertise in a variety of different ways and sections, including minis, juniors, seniors, ladies or groundskeeping.
The winners’ efforts will be recognised at a presentation evening to be held on Wednesday, June 6 at Sixways Stadium in Worcester.
Clubs interested in sending in nominations can email Linda Potts at lin@blue yonder.co.uk
